Motorsport data logging always promises to make you faster, but in practice, unless you have an engineering degree or built the software yourself, it’s easy to become overwhelmed by what’s recorded during your laps, and with the many systems available, one may be better suited than another.

Basic lap times are a useful but quite a crude method of evaluating performance, but this is all you will have unless you have a proper data recorder in your car, and the ability to assess the data recorded in a meaningful way.
