Project Overview:
The Mazda MX5, known for its agility and sleek design, had seen better days when it arrived at our workshop. Our client’s vehicle required significant sill repairs, crucial not only for aesthetics but also for structural integrity. Here’s how we tackled this intricate project:

Step-by-Step Breakdown:

1. Initial Assessment:
Our journey began with a thorough inspection to assess the extent of the damage. We discovered corrosion in several key areas that needed our attention to prevent further deterioration and ensure the vehicle’s longevity.

2. Disassembly:
To access the affected areas, we started by removing the wheels. The NSF wing and door were carefully removed to facilitate comprehensive sill and panel work without risking damage to the surrounding areas.

Sill Restoration:
Outer Sill Replacement: The damaged outer sill was completely removed and replaced with a new part, tailored to match the MX5’s specifications.
The inner bottom sill had also succumbed to rust. We meticulously cut out the corroded sections and welded in new, robust material that restored its structural integrity. Rear Quarter Panel Replacement,rear quarter bottom panel was replaced, a crucial step to maintain the body’s shape and strength. Floor Area Restoration: Similarly, the NS outer floor area was skillfully replaced, ensuring no weak spots that could jeopardise the vehicle’s safety or performance. Welding and Refinishing: All new panels were welded into place, followed by rust-proofing to protect against future corrosion. The weld areas, especially around the rear arch, were smoothed and prepared for painting. Painting and Finishing Touches:
The entire repaired section was primed and painted to match the original factory color, blending seamlessly with the rest of the car. This meticulous attention to detail ensures that both the appearance and value of the MX5 are enhanced. Reassembly and Quality Check: With the painting complete, we reattached the door and wing, refitted both wheels, and applied the final touches. A comprehensive check ensured everything was aligned and functioning as intended.
